Alexandre Dumas – pisarz i dramaturg francuski, autor Hrabiego Monte Christo i Trzech muszkieterów.

Jego ojcem był generał Thomas Alexandre Dumas . Od szesnastego roku życia pracował jako kancelista. W 1829 roku odniósł znaczący sukces dramatem historycznym Henryk III i jego dwór. W następnych latach święcił tryumfy na scenie dzięki takim utworom jak: Antoni , Wieża Nesle , Kean czy Panna z Belle-Isle .

Największą sławę przyniosły mu napisane w latach 40. powieści historyczne i przygodowe: Hrabia Monte Christo , cykl o muszkieterach:
