“I'm a short-term nostalgic; things were great ten minutes ago. If only I could go back there. At my time of life I suffer from déjà vu and amnesia at the same time; I can't remember what happens next.”

“If I had only one hour to save the world, I would spend fifty-five minutes defining the problem, and only five minutes finding the solution.”

Albert Einstein (1879–1955) German-born physicist and founder of the theory of relativity

There is no indication that Einstein said this. According to Quote Investigator, the earliest publication of a quote similar was in a collection of articles about manufacturing in 1966, when an employee of the Stainless Processing Company wrote a piece titled "The Manufacturing Manager's Skills." The article attributed the quote to an unnamed professor at Yale, by saying, "If I had only one hour to solve a problem, I would spend up to two-thirds of that hour in attempting to define what the problem is." (See, 1966, The Manufacturing Man and His Job by Robert E. Finley and Henry R. Ziobro, "The Manufacturing Manager's Skills" by William H. Markle (Vice President, Stainless Processing Company, Chicago, Illinois), Start Page 15, Quote Page 18, Published by American Management Association, Inc., New York. Variant: If I had an hour to solve a problem I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solutions.

“Women actually have a fantastic sense of humour, better than men. Men tend to have crass and predictable humour. Women see human foibles and minute details, and they can laugh at eccentricities and peculiarities. They are also more understanding. Go ahead and quote me and let me make some enemies.”

Sai Paranjpye (1938) Indian film director

“The confusion is not my invention. We cannot listen to a conversation for five minutes without being acutely aware of the confusion. It is all around us and our only chance now is to let it in.”

“I’m on the stage alone for 90 minutes. If I start mailing it in, I’m going to get lost. Part of the craft of acting is being properly prepared. I have too much respect for Lincoln to approach it any other way.”

“It's a troublesome world. All the people who're in it
are troubled with troubles almost every minute.
You oughta be thankful, a whole heaping lot,
For the places and people you're lucky you're not!”

The last sentence of this statement is often misquoted as "You oughta be thankful, a whole heaping lot, / For the people and places you're lucky you're not!"

“You may have given me the breaks,
amended all my life's mistakes,
ooh, but wait a minute,
you don't own me.
You may be more than just a friend
on whose assistance I depend
ooh, but wait a minute,
you don't own me.”

“I never thought I'd see the day
when murder would become so commonplace.
Hardly a minute ever goes by
without a murder taking place. And why?
Well, for a start, the punishment's not hard:
they sentence you to life but you're out in no time.”

“One minute you say you will
and the next you won't,
One minute you want me
and the next you don't,
You're turning me upside down,
Giving me the runaround,
Don't think that I don't know -
I do,
Don't think that I won't go.
You watch me:
It isn't out of question”
