“Oh, torture. Torture. My pubic hairs went gray.”
Rolling Stone
“My yesterdays walk with me. They keep step, they are gray faces that peer over my shoulder.”
"Growin' Up"
Song lyrics, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. (1973)
The Prophet (1923)
Context: Say not, "I have found the path of the soul." Say rather, "I have found the soul walking upon my path." For the soul walks upon all paths. The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed. The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.
“I carry the place around the world in my heart but sometimes I try to shake it off in my dreams”
“What could you give me," I ask, my voice shaking, "to make me forget… that you forgot about me?”
