"Music When the Lights Go Out" (with Carl Barat)
Lyrics and poetry
“The poet lights the light and fades away. But the light goes on and on.”
“It's so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone.”

“The light was draining out of the room, going back through the window where it had come from.”

Track 5: "Candidacy" The Past Didn't go Anywhere, Righteous Babe Records (1996)
A Wrinkle in Time (1962)
Context: Suddenly there was a great burst of light through the Darkness. The light spread out and where it touched the Darkness the Darkness disappeared. The light spread until the patch of Dark Thing had vanished, and there was only a gentle shining, and through the shining came the stars, clear and pure.
“Be warned, therefore, that one does not go to hell to light a cigarette.”
