„Za czasów Ceauszescu antykoncepcja była zabroniona, pigułki też. Kobieta musiała urodzić pięcioro dzieci, zanim pozwolono jej usunąć kolejną ciążę. Lub musiała mieć więcej niż 45 lat. Sama usunęłam dwa razy. Za pierwszym razem pracowałam jeszcze w fabryce maszyn. Nie mogłam zrobić tego w klinice, bo tam zatrudniano lekarzy związanych ze służbami bezpieczeństwa. W zakładowej toalecie koleżanka z pracy wsadziła mi do macicy plastikową żyłkę od okrągłych drutów. Musiałam ją nosić trzy doby. Jej drugi koniec przyklejony był do uda. Nosiłam spódnice, żeby zapewnić dopływ powietrza do macicy. Za drugim razem koleżanka przyniosła mi tylko żyłkę. Resztę zrobiłam sama. Siedziałam w łazience, nad lustrem, które położyłam na ziemi.”
