Glen Charles Cook – amerykański pisarz fantasy i science fiction.

Wychował się w północnej Kalifornii. Zaczął pisać w siódmej klasie. Marzył, by zostać pilotem Phantoma F-4, ale ostatecznie trafił do oddziałów specjalnych US Marine Corps . Wojskową karierę podjął syn Glena, natomiast autor przez kilkadziesiąt lat pracował w różnych fabrykach koncernu General Motors. Uczęszczał na Uniwersytet Missouri i warsztaty dla pisarzy Clarion. Pierwszy utwór opublikował w 1970.

Doświadczenia ze służby w armii przenosi na karty swoich książek .

Sam mówi o sobie: W przeciwieństwie do większości pisarzy, nie wykonywałem żadnego dziwnego zawodu jak np. skubanie kurczaków. Moim jedynym pracodawcą jest od lat General Motors. Ze względu na zmianę położenia zakładu, Glen ograniczył pisanie od 1988 roku. Następnie przeszedł na emeryturę i całkowicie poświęcił się pisaniu.

Jako swoje hobby, Cook wymienia zbieranie znaczków, książek oraz historię wojny. Glen Cook jest częstym gościem konwentów.

Najbardziej znany z cyklu dark fantasy o przygodach bractwa najemników – Czarnej Kompanii. Popularność przyniosła mu również seria detektywistyczno-sensacyjna w klimatach fantasy o detektywie Garretcie. Wikipedia

The end of the dream was drawing close. I could not imagine a world without me in it, either. And the inner me was outraged. Is outraged. I have no trouble imagining someone becoming obsessed with escaping death.
