Timothy Richard Tebow is an American sports broadcaster and former football quarterback. Tebow played college football for the Florida Gators and became the first underclassman to win the Heisman Trophy in 2007. He was a key contributor to two BCS National Championship teams at Florida and was named the MVP of the 2009 BCS National Championship Game. As a dual-threat quarterback, Tebow broke numerous passing and rushing records during his collegiate career, among them Southeastern Conference career records for highest passing efficiency rating and most rushing touchdowns and the NCAA record for most consecutive games in which he both passed and rushed for a touchdown.Tebow was selected by the National Football League's Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft and was named the team's starting quarterback six games into the 2011 season after Denver started the campaign with a 1–4 record. The Broncos went 7–1 in Tebow's first eight starts, and he led the franchise to its first division title and playoff victory since 2005. Tebow became something of a cultural phenomenon with Denver, both for his tendency to struggle for most of the game before leading his team to dramatic comeback victories and for his habit of dropping to a knee for a quick prayer on the football field, a practice that received the neologism "Tebowing".Concerns about Tebow's low pass completion rate and long-term potential as an NFL quarterback prompted the Broncos to trade him to the New York Jets before the 2012 season. He served as a backup QB in New York for one season and was not re-signed. After being subsequently signed and released by the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles without appearing in a regular season game, Tebow signed a minor league baseball contract with the New York Mets and played outfield in the Mets' organization from 2016 to 2021. In 2021, he attended training camp as a tight end with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who had recently hired his old Florida coach Urban Meyer. Tebow was cut during the preseason, effectively ending his pro football career.Tebow first appeared as a guest college football analyst for the SEC Network in 2014. Since 2017, he has been a regular contributor and co-host for college football programming on SECN and ESPN and has occasionally appeared on other programs on various ABC networks. Wikipedia
