“I wouldn't ask too much of her," I ventured. "You can't repeat the past."

"Can't repeat the past? he cried incredulously. "Why of course you can!”

“You can't undo the past but you can certainly not repeat it.”

“Can’t repeat the past?…Why of course you can!”

“What am I coming for?" he repeated, looking straight into her eyes. "You know that I have come to be where you are," he said; "I can't help it.”

“I take responsibility only for the future, not the past. The past can't hurt you the way the future can.”

“You can't go back, Ever. You can't change the past. It just is." I squint, having no idea what she's talking about. But just as I start to ask, she shakes her head and says, "This is our destiny. Not yours.”

“You can't correct a mistake by repeating it over again.”

“Everyone has a past, but that's just it--it's in the past. You can learn from it, but you can't change it.”

“Too much hate is bad for you," I ventured.
"Why?”

“History does not always repeat itself. Sometimes it just yells, 'Can't you remember anything I told you?”
