René Char – francuski poeta.

Urodził się w L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue na Prowansji , 20 km od Awinionu. Podczas II wojny światowej uczestniczył we francuskim ruchu oporu . Był dowódcą oddziału partyzanckiego w Basses-Alpes.

Jego poezja jest przesiąknięta krajobrazami Prowansji. Debiutował w 1934 tomikiem Le marteau sans maître. Wczesna twórczość Chara była związana z ruchem surrealistycznym, od którego jednak później odszedł. Wikipedia
