Démokritosz idézet

Démokritosz , , ókori görög atomista filozófus, az antik materializmus kiemelkedő képviselője. Leukipposszal együtt szokták említeni, mint az atomelmélet megalapítóját. Valószínűleg Szókratész kortársa volt, de őt magát a preszókratikusok közé sorolják.

Démokritosz életéről nagyon kevés biztosra vehető dolgot tudunk, a rengeteg, különböző ókori források által neki tulajdonított műből pedig szinte semmi nem maradt fent, és ezek szerzősége, illetve létezése is kétséges.

Ókori életrajzírói szerint nemcsak általános atomelméletéről és kozmológiáiról írt, hanem az érzéki észlelésről, a biológiáról, a zenéről és számos más tárgyról is. Etikai rendszert is kidolgozott, mely lényegében megegyezett a később Epikurosz által képviselt etikával.

Atomelméletét szinte kizárólag Arisztotelész interpretációjában ismerjük; a neki tulajdonított etikai művek szerzője pedig egy Démokratész nevű filozófus, akit csak a tizenkilencedik században azonosítottak először Démokritosszal . Wikipedia
