Marcus Terentius Varro was one of ancient Rome's greatest scholars and a prolific author. He is sometimes called Varro Reatinus [ˈwarːoː reaːˈt̪iːnʊs] to distinguish him from his younger contemporary Varro Atacinus. Wikipedia
