“Curran looked at me. “What the hell was I supposed to do, catch the werebison as he was falling?”

“When I'm with him, I can feel myself getting better. It's like he's picking up broken pieces of me and putting me back together, and I don't even know he's doing it. We never talk about it. We don't go to therapy. He just loves me and that's enough.”

“I lied. I need your help."
"Who are we killing?"
"Do you have a pen?”

“You have time.” He sat in the grass.

I looked at Andrea, who was hoarding bacon on her plate.
“She had tea with Mahon’s wife.” Andrea said.
Aunt B looked at her. “You and I need to work on your air of mystery.”

“What do you mean fainted?

Derek grinned, leaning on the fence. “Do you have any self-respect left?”

“The knocking persisted. It wasn't Derek. His knock would be careful, almost apologetic. This bastard knocked like he was doing me a favor.”
