Lady Gaga (1986) American singer, songwriter, and actress

Context: I have found that my work has to be both deep and shallow … All of my songs have meaning, all of my clothing has iconography buried into it. But by the same token, it's just as special if you look at it in its shallowest form. A quick moment of melody, a beautiful dress. People think, "Gaga's so sweet", or "Gaga sucks". The point is that it's memorable. For commercial art to be taken seriously as fine art is a very unusual and difficult task. I think that a lot of people don't get it and a lot of people don't know what to make of me. And, you know what? I'm OK with that.
“You should know me well enough by now to know I don't ask for things I don't think I can get.”
Bette Davis (1908–1989) film and television actress from the United States
“I never thought about going up…I don't know, don't you think that must mean something?”
Edie Sedgwick (1943–1971) Socialite, actress, model
Describing a dream to Chuck Wein
Edie : Girl On Fire (2006)
Context: It's like my having to walk down thousands and thousands of white marble stairs... and nothing but a very very blue sky, very blue, like... Yes, and I'd have to walk down them forever. I never thought about going up... I don't know, don't you think that must mean something? It never occurred to me to turn it around, I mean, why didn't I think that way? This was after I had the car accident.
