Joan Didion – amerykańska dziennikarka, eseistka, powieściopisarka. Mieszka w Nowym Jorku. Bliska nurtowi Nowego Dziennikarstwa.

W 2005 roku zdobyła National Book Award za Rok magicznego myślenia, eseistyczną opowieść o śmierci jej męża i ciężkiej chorobie 39-letniej córki, która również zmarła, gdy książka była już gotowa.

W Polsce przetłumaczono w latach 1986-1991 cztery jej książki, wyłącznie powieści, choć równie znane są reportaże:
