Eleanor Emily Hodgman Porter amerikai novellista írónő volt.

Llewella French és Francis Fletcher Hodgman gyermekeként született. Pályafutását énekléssel kezdte.

1892-ben össze házasodott John Lyman Porterrel. Ezután kezdte kiadni regényeit. Legsikeresebb regénye az Élet játéka-Pollyanna c. könyv volt, amely a legkelendőbb regények közé tartozott az Amerikai Egyesült Államokban. E könyv után több novellát is kiadott.
