Vâlmîki citations

Vālmīki est un poète indien légendaire et auteur selon la tradition du Rāmāyaṇa, racontant l'épopée du prince Rāma parti à la recherche de Sītā. Cette œuvre monumentale composée de pas moins de vingt-quatre mille strophes de quatre vers est l'un des joyaux de la littérature indienne antique, avec le Mahābhārata. Mais on date ce poème seulement du début de l'ère chrétienne ; son attribution à Valmiki provient d'éléments internes au texte . La tradition attribue à Valmiki l'invention du mètre épique . Il est surnommé « Adi kavi », le « Premier poète ». Wikipedia

Perceiving the words thought by Valmiki, Brahma told him "So, by a river, the world's first verse has been born from pity, and love and compassion for a tiny bird has made you a poet. Use your discovery to tell Rama's story, and your verses will defeat Time. As make you poem, Rama's life will be revealed to you, and no word of yours will be untrue.
