Cole Porter, né Cole Albert Porter le 9 juin 1891 à Peru aux États-Unis, et mort le 15 octobre 1964 à Santa Monica , est un compositeur et parolier américain, auteur de quelques-unes des plus célèbres comédies musicales de la scène américaine .

On lui doit Kiss Me, Kate , Anything Goes, Can-Can… ; ainsi que de très nombreuses chansons : Night and Day , I Get a Kick Out of You, You're The Top, I've Got You Under My Skin, I Love Paris, C'est Magnifique… Il connut le succès grâce à ses textes subtils et spirituels, jouant souvent sur les sous-entendus, et à sa musique aux formes et aux rythmes complexes. Beaucoup de ses créations comptent parmi les plus célèbres du Grand répertoire américain de la chanson et les grands standards du jazz.

Cole Porter est l'un des rares compositeurs américains de son époque qui ait écrit à la fois la musique et les paroles de ses chansons.
