“It is natural for a train to run on its tracks.”
Sivakozhundu of Tiruvazhundur (1939)
Context: It is natural for a train to run on its tracks. We get into a train because we believe that it will do that. But once in a while the train runs off the rails, and there’s an accident. Those who don’t actually witness such a happening can say, “No train will run off the rails, it is unnatural for it to do so”.

The Prophets (1962)
“Freedom, by its nature, cannot be imposed. It must be chosen.”
2000s, 2006, United Nations General Assembly speech (September 2006)
Context: Freedom, by its nature, cannot be imposed. It must be chosen. From Beirut to Baghdad, people are making the choice for freedom. And the nations gathered in this chamber must make a choice, as well: Will we support the moderates and reformers who are working for change across the Middle East—or will we yield the future to the terrorists and extremists? America has made its choice: We will stand with the moderates and reformers.
“Theories that go counter to the facts of human nature are foredoomed.”
