“My excitement
Turns into fright.
All my words fade.
What am I gonna say?
Mustn't give the game away.”

“But the word that sways, and stirs, and stays,
Is the word that comes from the heart.”
The Word
Poetry quotes, New Thought Pastels (1913)
Context: p>You may choose your word like a connoisseur,
And polish it up with art,
But the word that sways, and stirs, and stays,
Is the word that comes from the heart. You may work on your word a thousand weeks,
But it will not glow like one
That all unsought, leaps forth white hot,
When the fountains of feeling run.</p

Context: Despair was a heavy blackness that let no light in or out. It was a hell beyond expression. I thank God it always passed. A school of fish appeared around the net or a knot cried out to be reknotted. Or I thought of my family, of how they were spared this terrible agony. The blackness would stir and eventually go away, and God would remain, a shining point of light in my heart. I would go on loving.
“Among the things you can give and still keep are your word, a smile, and a grateful heart.”
