Wśród jego licznych przydomków były: "The Kid", "The Splendid Splinter", "Teddy Ballgame", "The Thumper", "Mr Red Sox", "Toothpick Ted" oraz, z powodu sprawności uderzeń, "The Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived".
