Dodatkowo Szwajcar sześciokrotnie został mistrzem kończącego sezon turnieju ATP Finals . Ponadto dziesięciokrotnie dochodził do finałów rozgrywek wielkoszlemowych i cztery razy do finału ATP Finals. W sierpniu 2012 roku wywalczył srebrny medal igrzysk olimpijskich w Londynie, po przegranym finale z Andym Murrayem. Federer w ciągu swojej kariery wygrał 103 turniejów rangi ATP Tour w grze pojedynczej oraz osiągnął 54 finały. Jako trzeci tenisista w historii ery open doszedł do granicy tysiąca zwycięskich meczów.

W grze podwójnej Federer jest złotym medalistą igrzysk olimpijskich w Pekinie z roku 2008. Wspólnie ze Stanislasem Wawrinką pokonali w finałowym meczu Szwedów Simona Aspelina i Thomasa Johanssona. W deblu Szwajcar ma na koncie 8 turniejowych zwycięstw i 6 finałów.

W sezonie 2014 Federer zdobył ze Szwajcarią historyczny, pierwszy dla tego kraju Puchar Davisa, po pokonaniu w finale 3:1 reprezentacji Francji.

Po wygraniu Australian Open z 2004 roku, dnia 2 lutego, awansował na 1. pozycję w światowym rankingu. Przez kolejne 237 tygodni był na szczycie listy . Dnia 6 lipca 2009 roku ponownie został liderem rankingu na okres 48 tygodni. Po dwóch latach, 9 lipca 2012 roku, Federer ponownie objął prowadzenie w rankingu czym najpierw wyrównał, a w następnym tygodniu pobił rekord 286 tygodni jako nr 1 należący do Pete’a Samprasa. Do dnia 5 listopada 2012 roku, kiedy na pozycji lidera zastąpił go Novak Đoković. 19 lutego 2018 roku, po pięciu latach i czterech miesiącach przerwy Roger Federer w wieku 36 lat i sześciu miesięcy powrócił na 1. pozycję w światowym rankingu ATP zostając najstarszym liderem w historii, łącznie przewodził stawce tenisistów przez rekordowe 310 tygodni.
