Posługę zaczynał w 1959 r., w parafii Coral Ridge. Był założycielem centrum misyjnego Evangelism Explosion, oraz założycielem i prezydentem Coral Ridge Ministries - medialnej organizacji ewangelizacyjnej. Cieszył się w USA opinią jednego z najbardziej wpływowych liderów ewangelikalnego chrześcijaństwa. Był zwolennikiem dominionizmu.
