Patrick Joseph « Pat » Buchanan est un journaliste et homme politique américain, commentateur politique sur la chaîne MSNBC, cofondateur du magazine The American Conservative et cofondateur de la fondation paléo-conservatrice The American Cause.

Conseiller politique des présidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford et Ronald Reagan, il fut deux fois candidat à l'investiture républicaine de la présidence des États-Unis et a reçu en 2000 la nomination du Reform Party of the United States of America pour l'élection présidentielle des États-Unis d'Amérique 2000 en tandem avec Ezola Broussard Foster pour la vice-présidence. Il a également écrit plusieurs ouvrages sur ses opinions politiques conservatrices ainsi que des chroniques dans des revues comme Human Events, National Review, The Nation et Rolling Stone.

Il a été l'un des rédacteurs des discours du président Richard Nixon. En 2003, il s'est opposé à la guerre d'Irak, et est resté défavorable à la politique étrangère de George W. Bush durant tout son mandat.
