Augusto Pinochet idézet

Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte, ismertebb nevén csak Augusto Pinochet chilei tábornok, a hadsereg főparancsnoka, 1973 és 1990 között Chile vezetője, majd haláláig szenátor. Elsősorban arról ismert, hogy 1973-ban puccsal magához ragadta a hatalmat a demokratikusan megválasztott Salvador Allende szocialista elnöktől. Tizenhét éves elnökségének első éveiben súlyos emberijogi sértések estek, de a hetvenes évek végén jelentős gazdasági sikereket ért el. Miután egy 1989-es népszavazáson a választók elutasították azt, hogy hatalmon maradjon, a következő évben békésen átadta a hatalmat a demokratikusan megválasztott Patricio Aylwinnak, bár 1998-ig a hadsereg élén maradt. Életének utolsó éveiben több sikertelen kísérlet is történt jogi felelősségre vonására. Wikipedia
