Saadi citations

Abū-Muḥammad Muṣliḥ al-Dīn bin Abdallāh Shīrāzī , mieux connu en Occident sous le nom de Saadi ou Sadi , né à une date incertaine, possiblement vers 1210, et mort probablement en 1291 ou 1292, est l'un des plus grands poètes et conteurs persans.

Il est l'auteur du Golestan , du Boustan et du Livre des conseils. Il est reconnu pour sa maîtrise de l'écriture et la profondeur de ses idées. Wikipedia

Gulistan (1258)

“Translation:
Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul. If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain. If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain.”

The children of Adam are limbs of a whole
Having been created of one essence.
When the calamity of time afflicts one limb
The other limbs cannot remain at rest.
