Le docteur Ludwik Lejzer Zamenhof , de son nom original Samenhof , est un médecin ophtalmologiste polonais, né le 15 décembre 1859 à Białystok, dans l'Empire Russe, et mort le 14 avril 1917 à Varsovie. Né dans une famille juive, ses langues d’usage sont le yiddish, le russe et le polonais. Il est connu pour avoir élaboré la langue construite espéranto dans son ouvrage Langue Internationale, publié en russe le 26 juillet 1887 sous le pseudonyme Doktoro Esperanto . Il fut nommé une douzaine de fois au prix Nobel de la Paix. Wikipedia
