Jacob Zuma citations

Jacob Zuma, né le 12 avril 1942, est un homme d'État sud-africain, président de la République du 9 mai 2009 au 14 février 2018.

Issu de l'ethnie zouloue, autodidacte, il est une figure de la lutte anti-apartheid, ayant été emprisonné durant dix ans à Robben Island, au large du Cap. Membre de l'aile gauche du Congrès national africain , il est vice-président de la République de 1999 à 2005 et accède à la tête de l'ANC en 2007.

En 2009, après la victoire de l'ANC aux élections législatives, il est élu président de la République par le Parlement. Il succède au président intérimaire, Kgalema Motlanthe, qui devient vice-président de la République. Jacob Zuma et l'ANC remportent les élections législatives de 2014 dans un contexte social, politique et économique délicat, ce qui lui permet d'être réélu chef de l'État par l'Assemblée nationale.

Il est régulièrement au centre de polémiques et menacé de motions de défiance en raison d'accusations d'agressions sexuelles, de scandales de corruption et de dégradation de la situation économique du pays. Il quitte la présidence de l'ANC fin 2017. Impopulaire et menacé de destitution par son parti, il démissionne de la présidence de la République en 2018. Wikipedia
