Hunter Biden est un investisseur de fonds spéculatifs, de capital-risque et de fonds de capital-investissement qui a auparavant travaillé comme lobbyiste, banquier, fonctionnaire de l'administration publique et avocat enregistré d'une société de lobbyistes.

Il a siégé au conseil d'administration de Burisma Holdings, l'un des plus grands producteurs privés de gaz naturel d'Ukraine, de 2014 jusqu'à l'expiration de son mandat en avril 2019.
