Halle Berry, née le 14 août 1966 à Cleveland , est une actrice, productrice et ancienne mannequin américaine.

Elle a remporté l'Oscar de la meilleure actrice en 2002 pour sa performance dans le film dramatique À l'ombre de la haine . Elle est la première Afro-Américaine à avoir reçu ce prix.

Elle a été l'une des actrices les mieux payées à Hollywood au cours des années 2000 et a pris des parts dans la production de nombreux films dans lesquels elle a joué. Elle est aussi le porte-parole de Revlon.

Après avoir débuté dans le mannequinat, elle enchaîne les seconds rôles au cinéma durant les années 1990 : Boomerang ,Ultime Décision , X-Men , Opération Espadon .

Elle accède à la reconnaissance critique avec deux projets : tout d'abord le téléfilm Dorothy Dandridge, le destin d'une diva , qui lui vaut le Emmy Award et le Golden Globe Award de la meilleure actrice ; puis le drame À l'ombre de la haine , pour lequel elle décroche l'Oscar de la meilleure actrice.

Durant les années 2000, elle tente de s'imposer comme tête d'affiche de blockbusters : mais ceux-ci reçoivent des critiques très mitigées - Meurs un autre jour , X-Men : L'Affrontement final -, voire désastreuses : Gothika , Catwoman , Dangereuse Séduction et Dark Tide .

Dans les années 2010, elle passe donc au second plan : elle alterne premiers rôles dans des films indépendants : Frankie et Alice , The Call , Kidnap , Kings .

Parallèlement, elle interprète des seconds rôles dans des grosses productions : Happy New Year , Cloud Atlas , X-Men: Days of Future Past , Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or et John Wick 3: Parabellum .
