Aaron Sorkin, né le 9 juin 1961 à New York, est un scénariste, producteur de cinéma et de télévision et dramaturge américain.
Ses œuvres incluent notamment les pièces de théâtre A Few Good Men et The Farnsworth Invention , jouées à Broadway, les séries télévisées Sports Night, À la Maison-Blanche, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip et The Newsroom, et les films Des hommes d'honneur, Le Président et Miss Wade, La Guerre selon Charlie Wilson, The Social Network, Le Stratège et Steve Jobs.
Les dialogues en rafale et les longs monologues sont caractéristiques de son écriture. On les trouve souvent accompagnés à la télévision par la marque de fabrique de son collaborateur régulier, Thomas Schlamme, le « walk and talk » , à savoir une technique de réalisation dans laquelle les personnages discutent en marchant : le plus généralement, un premier personnage en mouvement est rejoint par un second, et ils discutent ensemble sur le chemin vers leurs destinations respective ou commune.
