“He wondered if normalcy was something, like vision or silence, you didn't realize was precious until you lost it.”

“(Sebastian) "See, there you go. You're always looking at me like that."
"Like what?"
"Like I burn down animal shelters for fun and light my cigarettes with orphans.”

“A really huge metronome that could also double as a weapon?”

“He was the one she was doing all this for, but sometimes she missed him so much it felt like she swallowed broken glass.”

“Those of us who do not live forever do not like change perhaps as much as those of you who do.”

“Well, you know, your mom gets like this sometimes," Simon said. "Like when she breathes in or out.”
