Thuküdidész , görög történetíró, A peloponnészoszi háború szerzője. Thuküdidészt a tudományos történetírás atyjának is nevezik Hérodotoszhoz hasonlóan, akit Cicero nevezett el a történetírás atyjának, de kiemelve elődjénél szigorúbb tudományos módszereit. Ragaszkodott a tényekhez, gyűjtötte és rendszerezte azokat, forrásait kritikával kezelte, és nem hivatkozott az isteni beavatkozásra, amint azt maga is kifejtette művének bevezetőjében. Wikipedia
