Michael Joseph Jackson tizenháromszoros Grammy-díjas amerikai énekes, zeneszerző, táncos, filantróp és üzletember. A Jackson család hetedik gyermeke volt. 1966-tól bátyjaival a The Jackson 5 együttes tagja. Apjuk, Walter Joseph Jackson volt az együttes menedzsere. Michael 1971-ben szólókarrierbe kezdett, és sikerei miatt „a pop királyának” is nevezték. 1982-es albuma, a Thriller évtizedeken keresztül minden idők legnagyobb példányszámban elkelt albuma volt; négy másik stúdióalbuma, az Off the Wall , a Bad , a Dangerous és a HIStory szintén a világ legjobban eladott nagylemezeinek listáján szerepel.

A 80-as évek elejére meghatározó alakja lett az amerikai popzenének és popkultúrának.
