Liguori Szent Alfonz: Idézetek angolul

“Let us examine in what true wisdom consists, and we shall see, in the first point, that sinners are truly foolish, and, in the second, that the saints are truly wise.”

Liguori, A. M. (1882). Sunday within the Octave of the Nativity: In What True Wisdom Consists. In N. Callan (Trans.), Sermons for All the Sundays in the Year (Eighth Edition, p. 43). Dublin; London: James Duffy & Sons.

“God does not listen to the prayers of the proud”

The Conditions Requisite for the Due Performance of Prayer http://books.google.com/books?id=bywYAQAAIAAJ&q=%22God+does+not+listen+to+the+prayers+of+the+proud%22&pg=PA435#v=onepage in: The complete works of Saint Alphonsus de Liguori: the ascetical works, Volume 2. Redemptorist Fathers, 1926. p. 435.
Kontextus: Prayer must be humble: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Here St. James tells us that God does not listen to the prayers of the proud, but resists them; while, on the other hand, he is always ready to hear the prayers of the humble.
