Kate Bush angol énekesnő, zenész, dalszövegíró és lemezproducer. Eklektikus zenei világa, egyéni dalszövegei révén az elmúlt három évtized egyik legsikeresebb és legjelentősebb brit női előadójának számít.

Tizenhat évesen szerződtette az EMI a Pink Floyd egyik tagja, David Gilmour javaslatára. Mindjárt bemutatkozó kislemeze, a Wuthering Heights ismertté tette a nevét, hiszen a dal négy hétig vezette az angol slágerlistát 1978-ban. Ez volt az első alkalom, hogy egy énekesnő saját maga által írt dallal a brit slágerlista élére került. 1979-ben került sor Bush első és egyetlen turnéjára. A Never for Ever című 1980-as albumával Kate újabb rekordot döntött meg: ő volt az első brit énekesnő, aki a nagylemezlista csúcsáig jutott. Az énekesnő albumai közül egyébként 3 érte el ezt a pozíciót, a kislemezek listáján pedig olyan dalokkal került be a legjobb 10 közé, mint a Running Up That Hill, a King of the Mountain, a Babooshka, a The Man with the Child in His Eyes vagy a Don’t Give Up, amely egy duett Peter Gabriellel. 2002-ben Ivor Novello-díjban részesült szövegírói munkássága elismeréseként. 12 év szünet után, 2005-ben Aerial címmel készített újabb nagylemezt. A korong Angliában sikernek bizonyult, Busht jelölték a legjobb albumnak és a legjobb szólóénekesnőnek járó brit könnyűzenei díjra. Pályafutása során három alkalommal Grammy-díjra is jelölték. Kontextus: The great thing about art on any level is that it can speak to all people if it’s achieved properly. When I’ve heard a piece of music or seen a painting that moves me, it gives me something. That’s such an incredibly special experience. I have intentions as a writer, but people — when they’re listening to a track — will take from it what they interpret. Sometimes people mishear my lyrics and think a song’s about something it isn’t. That doesn’t matter. If it speaks to them and they get something positive from it, it’s great.
