Theódoros Kolokotrónis citations

Theódoros Kolokotrónis , né le 3 avril 1770 à Ramavouni en Messénie, dans le Péloponnèse et mort le 15 février 1843 à Athènes, fut un général et homme d'État grec, héros de la Guerre d'indépendance grecque. Il était surnommé le « Vieux de Morée » car il avait cinquante ans au début du conflit.

D'abord klephte, il intégra l'armée britannique dans les îles ioniennes où il se forma au combat régulier. Il participa aux combats de la guerre d'indépendance grecque dans le Péloponnèse et y remporta des victoires importantes et symboliques pour la cause grecque . Il fut un des chefs du parti « militaire » lors des guerres civiles qui déchirèrent les insurgés grecs.

Après l'indépendance, ses choix politiques lui valurent l'antagonisme des Bavarois autour du roi Othon. Il fut emprisonné et condamné à mort, puis gracié. Wikipedia
