Pelham Grenville Wodehouse , né à Guildford, Surrey, le 15 octobre 1881, mort à New York le 14 février 1975, est un auteur humoriste britannique naturalisé citoyen des États-Unis d'Amérique en 1955. Prolifique, il a écrit plus de 90 livres de récits , plus de 100 autres récits en magazines, 400 articles, 19 pièces de théâtre, et 250 chansons pour 33 comédies musicales . Son personnage du valet de chambre Jeeves est devenu internationalement célèbre. Sa série Jeeves and Wooster fut adaptée pour la chaine de télévision ITV en 1990, et a été très bien reçue.
