Meir David HaKohen Kahane, né Martin David Kahane était un rabbin et homme politique israélo-américain, prônant une ligne nationaliste favorable au Grand Israël et au transfert de tous les Palestiniens des territoires occupés, et incluant les Arabes vivant en Israël, hors de ce pays. Fondateur de l'organisation Jewish Defense League aux États-Unis puis de Kach, un parti politique israélien d'extrême droite, il devint député à la Knesset lors des élections de 1984. Il est exclu du parlement après que Kach a été déclaré comme un parti raciste par le gouvernement israélien. Le Kach a été interdit en Israël.

Kahane fut assassiné à Manhattan en 1990 par un groupe lié à Ayman al-Zaouahiri, à Omar Abdel Rahman et à d'autres participants à l'assassinat du président égyptien Sadate en octobre 1981, après un discours dans lequel il appela tous les juifs américains à émigrer en Israël[évasif][réf. nécessaire].
