Larry Bird citations

Larry Joe Bird, parfois surnommé « Larry Legend » ou « Gold hand », est un joueur, entraîneur et dirigeant américain de basket-ball né le 7 décembre 1956 à West Baden Springs, dans l'Indiana.

Considéré comme l'un des meilleurs joueurs du cinquantenaire de la NBA selon un vote effectué en 1996, sa rivalité avec Magic Johnson est un des facteurs du renouveau de la NBA, renouveau qui se prolonge ensuite avec l'avènement de Michael Jordan. Il inscrit à son palmarès trois titres de champion NBA avec les Celtics de Boston, et une médaille d'or olympique obtenue avec la Dream Team aux Jeux olympiques de Barcelone.

Larry Bird est distingué à trois reprises du titre de meilleur joueur de la ligue et, à deux reprises, du titre de meilleur joueur des finales NBA . En 1998, il est introduit au Basketball Hall of Fame, le Temple de la renommée du basket-ball, et en 2010, figure une seconde fois au palmarès de celui-ci en qualité de membre de la Dream Team.

À l'issue de sa carrière de joueur, Larry Bird effectue une courte carrière d'entraîneur, récompensée du titre d'entraîneur de l'année, NBA Coach of the Year, en 1998, et atteignant les Finales NBA en 2000.

En 2012, il est désigné NBA Executive of the Year, meilleur dirigeant de la NBA, devenant la première personne dans l'histoire de la ligue à avoir reçu les prix de meilleur joueur de la saison, d'entraîneur de l'année, et de dirigeant de l'année. Wikipedia
